International Symposium on Garden Architecture
September 29, 2012

“Gardens, to me, mean variety and space close to nature, and joie de vivre for all generations”. Wolfgang Sobotka, Lower Austria deputy governor

The symposium highlights gardens as social, productive and creative spaces. Private gardens, and their design and use, interact with their environment, the times and circumstances surrounding them, and reflect lifestyles and cultures. Is there a new garden culture – what work is being done on it worldwide? The speakers will present gardens as paradises or utopias, as interfaces with public space, as compositions of plants and materials.
